a sound answers a sound is a bilingual poetry collection that acts as an invitation for collective attunement. These poems honor multiple temporalities and polyphonic imaginaries. They seek to pause where the road disappears, to speak from thresholds and crossings, from where land and water meet. They attend to what resists utterance and translation. They form a collective rhythm, a literacy of sound.
a sound answers a sound is published in two simultaneous editions (Portuguese and English) as part of CARA's participation in the opening program, Conjugations, for the 36th Bienal de São Paulo, Not All Travellers Walk Roads — Of Humanity as Practice. It is accompanied by a live performance by artists Ryan C. Clarke, JJJJJerome Ellis, and Kite at the Ciccillo Matarazzo Pavilion on September 6, 2025.
